Here's a bit of news you probably haven't heard yet: The State Department is proposing an entire new series of seriously creepy and disturbing questions (see the proposed form DS-5513 here) in order for you to get a passport. You're going to need all addresses since birth; lifetime employment history including employers’ and supervisors names, addresses, and telephone numbers; personal details of all siblings; mother’s address one year prior to your birth; any “religious ceremony” around the time of birth, including circumcision, baptism, etc.; and all witnesses attending your birth.
Fortunately, they can be completely trusted with all this, as all they're going to do with it is:
...[make it available] as a routine use to other government agencies and private contractors to assist the U.S. Department of State in adjudicating passport applications and requests for related services, and for law enforcement, fraud prevention, border security, counterterrorism, litigation activities, and administrative purposes.

Notice that the "public comment" period for this load of horseshit has already expired - maybe it's just me, but I didn't notice any of this in the news - can you imagine how much shit would have hit the fan if the BUSH administration had tried to collect this with a straight face?
So, where are all the civil libertarians marching for justice now? Well since their constituency of illegal aliens, felons, traitors and treasonous politicians don't have to provide any of this for any reason, much less to move across the "border control" of our Country, the leftist maggots that run the place are just peachy-fine with it.

ReplyDeleteYou see, that's just more of that brilliant leading from behind. Eventually they'll figure something out. I'm betting it'll apply to people born either in the Arabian peninsula or in Idaho.
I am very much dependent upon having a valid passport at all times, since I live abroad, so I went looking for the page that would tell me this was a hoax. It isn't. However, the form isn't meant for US-born citizens who have hospital-issued birth certificates. Whew!
ReplyDeleteYeah, theoretically it's meant to clean up all those pesky presidential sorts who have insufficient documentation - oh, no, wait, we're supposed to just take his word for it - but in fact, the proposed rules make it a matter of the discretion of the director or his designee(s). Which is to say, the State Department can require it just because they think it's a good idea today.
